About the role
The Group Exercise Instructor creates a welcoming, safe, and engaging environment by leading high-quality group fitness classes that support the health and well-being of Y members and participants. This position is responsible for delivering effective and motivating classes, building positive relationships with participants, and fostering a sense of community through fitness and wellness. Instructors adapt activities to meet a variety of fitness levels and abilities while ensuring a positive and inclusive experience for all. What you'll bring
- Current nationally recognized Group Exercise certification required (AFAA, ACE, NASM, ACSM, NETA, YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise, or equivalent).
- Current CPR/AED certification required or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.
- Ability to safely lead and modify exercises for participants with varying fitness levels and abilities.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and motivational skills.
- Ability to create an engaging and inclusive participant experience.
- must be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Specialty certification preferred for assigned formats such as Yoga, Indoor Cycling, Zumba, Barre, Pilates, HIIT, Strength Training, or similar disciplines.
- Previous group exercise instruction experience preferred.
