About the role
AECOM is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to be based in our Baltimore, MD office to support the B&P Tunnel Replacement (BPTR) Program among other project opportunities available at AECOM. AECOM is the delivery partner for Amtrak on the BPTR Program that will upgrade a ten-mile section of the Northeast Corridor (NEC), America’s busiest passenger rail line. The Program will also include delivery of new roadway and railroad bridges, new rail systems and track, and a new ADA-accessible West Baltimore MARC station. The delivery partner team is responsible for supporting Amtrak with overseeing the full breadth of the program. The scope of services includes program management, design oversight, construction oversight, commissioning oversight, program controls, and commercial and capacity building. This role requires a professional engineer with deep experience in both design and construction who can independently review, evaluate, and resolve technical issues on construction submittals, Request for Information (RFIs), and field changes. The position is essential to ensuring timely, accurate, and defensible technical decisions across multiple Guaranteed Maximum Proce (GMP) packages. An ideal candidate will oversee design and construction progress, undertake technical reviews, coordinate technical discussions, support field integration activities, and ensure alignment across engineering, construction, and stakeholder teams. What you'll bring
- Bachelor’s degree and ten years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
- Familiarity with alternate project delivery methods such as CMAR, Design-Build, and P3
- Multi-disciplined experience to include structural experience.
- Demonstrated experience in independently reviewing and resolving technical issues on construction submittals and RFIs.
- Experience supporting large-scale infrastructure, rail, tunnel, or heavy civil projects.
- Proactive and self-directed with the ability to coordinate with multiple project team members, consultants, and contractors for specific initiatives.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint.
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent listening, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Exceptional organization, time management, and prioritization skills with proven ability to balance competing tasks and meet deadlines.
