About the role
This position is based both on-site in California and Indiana, and in the office in Edmonds, WA. Travel is approximately 33% of working time and is typically planned well in advance. The role involves a blend of office-based design and analysis work with periodic field presence during installation, testing, and commissioning activities, requiring the ability to work in varied environments including industrial and outdoor settings. Amentum is seeking a skilled and driven Electrical Engineer to join our engineering team based in Edmonds, WA. This is a design-focused role that spans the full product lifecycle — from early concept development through hardware design, fabrication, installation, and on-site operation. This position offers the opportunity to lead and participate in design reviews, work alongside vendors to bring electrical hardware from schematic to reality, and provide direct technical support during field installation and testing.
What you'll bring
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Systems Engineering (or similar) from an ABET-accredited institution.
- 3-12 years of electrical engineering experience encompassing circuit/system design, analysis, and project lifecycle management.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret Clearance.
- Proficiency with CAD/EDA tools for electrical schematic and wiring diagram development (AutoCAD Electrical, SOLIDWORKS Electrical, Zuken, or similar).
- Demonstrated experience with low voltage systems, sensor integration, and wiring harness design.
- Strong ability to read and produce electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, harness drawings, and technical specifications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- able to convey technical content clearly to diverse audiences and produce professional engineering documentation.
- Ability to work in field environments, including industrial and outdoor settings, as required.
- Experience with ruggedized or defense-grade electrical systems, connectors (MIL-DTL-38999, MIL-DTL-26482, or similar), and harness workmanship standards (IPC/WHMA-A-620).
- Background in aerospace, defense, shipboard, or energy sector programs.
- Experience leading design reviews (PDR/CDR) and managing electrical hardware through formal change control processes.
