About the role

Coppin State University, a fully accredited institution and a member of the University System of Maryland, is accepting applications for a Business Manager for the Division of Academic Affairs. Founded in 1900, Coppin is an urban, residential, historically black university offering 32 undergraduate majors, 14 graduate majors, and 15 certificate programs and 1 doctoral program; nearly 3,000 students are enrolled in day, evening, on-line, and weekend undergraduate and graduate courses. The Division of Academic Affairs includes the Office of the Provost, four colleges – the College of Business, the College of Arts & Sciences and Education, the College of Health Professions, and the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences. The Honors College, the College of Graduate Studies, the Office of Grants, Research and Sponsored Programs, Institutional Planning and Assessment and the Parlett L. Moore Library are also apart of Academic Affairs. This position is responsible for managing business operations for the Division of Academic Affairs including finance and budget, purchasing and procurement, and liaising with human resources regarding academic appointments. This key operational role has oversight of the division’s $30 million budget, fiscal planning, purchase orders, vendor payment processing, sponsored research accounts, Title III budget management and reporting, etc. This position reports to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. What you'll bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, Management, or financial management discipline required.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in a combination of budget management, grant administration, accounting, purchasing and staff management is required.
  • Minimum of one year of experience with Workday preferred.
