About the role

We’re seeking a Staff+ Software Engineer to own the backend architecture and scaling of our clinician-facing provider platform. This is a high-ownership IC role where you will define technical direction for core backend systems, not just implement features. You’ll act as a technical leader across multiple engineers and teams, setting patterns for APIs, data modeling, and system design that others build on.

What you'll bring

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong backend focus.
• Experience operating at a Staff+ level, influencing technical direction and architecture across teams without formal authority.
• Proven ability to design and scale backend systems, APIs, and data platforms that serve multiple products or business units.
• Strong system design experience, including distributed systems, data modeling, and tradeoffs around reliability, scalability, and performance.
• Experience building and owning production-grade backend services end-to-end, from database design through APIs and integrations.
• Strong proficiency in Python, Node.js, or similar backend technologies, with solid experience in relational and/or NoSQL databases and API design.
• Comfort working in ambiguous, fast-moving environments and turning loosely defined problems into scalable technical systems.
• We are open to candidates across multiple levels for this role.
• Final level and compensation will be determined through the interview process based on experience, technical depth, and scope.
• Familiarity with B2B SaaS, internal tools, or platform/integration-heavy systems is a plus.
• Healthcare or regulated environment experience (e.g., HIPAA/PHI) is a bonus, but not required.
