About the role

Design the product experience for a new kind of law firm. Norm Law is the AI-native law firm affiliated with Norm Ai. It pairs experienced attorneys with software to deliver legal work with more speed, certainty, and transparency than the billable-hour model. Lawyers still build trusted client relationships, negotiate deals, and give legal advice, while also training agents and improving the systems that support the work. We’re hiring a Senior/Staff Product Designer to shape the software behind that model. Much of the work will focus on matter management: how legal work is broken down, tracked, automated, reviewed, and delivered. You’ll design systems that help attorneys understand what’s happening across a matter, what needs their judgment, and what can safely be handled by AI. Legal work is difficult to manage because so much of it lives outside the system: email threads, document comments, side conversations, client preferences, and partner judgment. The design challenge is to make that work easier to see, track, and automate without losing the trust and judgment legal work depends on. The advantage here is proximity to a live legal environment. Attorneys, engineers, and designers work close to real client matters, learning from active legal work and improving the system in real time. The path from observation to idea to shipped product can be very short.

What you'll bring

  • 6+ years of product design experience shipping real products with strong interaction, visual, and systems craft.
  • A track record of getting close to users and turning messy context into simple product decisions.
  • Strong judgment about when to add structure, when to reduce friction, and when to preserve human control.
  • A build-first mindset.
  • Intentional use of AI in your own process.
  • You use it to move faster and think better, not to skip the hard parts.
  • You prototype quickly, test ideas early, and prefer making something real over debating in the abstract.
  • Experience designing legal, healthcare, finance, or other expert professional workflows.
  • Experience with project management, CRM, case management, or systems-of-record products.
  • Comfort with Git, code, or version-controlled prototyping workflows.
  • Experience contributing to or scaling a design system.
  • Has pushed a PR or made a meaningful code contribution outside of a prototyping context.
